Reporting to the group’s commercial and strategy director, this role involves taking full ownership of each company’s marketing plan. Your goal will be to attract the right level of new sales opportunities to meet annual revenue targets, whilst raising brand awareness in line with each company’s brand strategy.
For our agencies, it’s important that you have an appreciation of how agencies work, whether from the agency side or not, to promote the essence of each company and ensure we’re articulating what we do in a way that speaks straight to the core of our audience’s problems.
You don’t have to be a master of all crafts. What you do need is a gutsy attitude and demonstrable marketing success to prove you're perfect for this role.
You’ll be amazing at managing an agency team - you’ll inherit one to work with on the campaigns. You’ll be no stranger to researching, to continually improve the way we reach and engage with our target audiences whilst showing how we can enrich clients’ businesses. Then, with access to Tank and Warbox’s specialist minds, your leadership and management needs to help:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the delivery and evolvement of the Group’s marketing strategies across all companies in line with clearly set objectives.
- Report progress and marketing performance to each agency managing director, whilst reporting primarily to the group’s commercial and strategy director.
- Demonstrate creativity, initiative and strategic thinking to find new effective ways of reaching each company’s target audience, and new markets as our group of companies continue to expand their offer.
- Ensure marketing performance and onsite user behaviours are analysed within the group to help continuously improve engagement and results across all channels.
- Stay in tune with competitor activity, competitor performance, as well as fresh audience and marketing insights that can be used to evolve how we promote ourselves.
- Support the teams, when necessary, with the production and delivery within a, or multiple, channels depending on your experience and skills.
- Monitor the processes and internal collaboration to help identify opportunities to work smarter, whether that be process improvement or embracing new technologies/tools.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets (both time and monetary) for all marketing activities across the Group, while demonstrating a healthy ROI on all the time and capital invested.
- Monitor and report on the marketing function's progress during monthly board meetings and all-team round-ups.
ABOUT YOU:
- Experience in senior marketing leadership roles, with at least three years working within a similar role to ours with similar expectations and goals.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of B2B marketing, digital marketing, and brand strategies with a creative mindset that can spot effective emerging trends.
- Someone who leads by example to win employee and stakeholder engagement. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- High levels of personal integrity, with a fundamental commitment to fairness, transparency and sensitivity in all dealings.
- Ability to thrive, stay on track, and within budgets within a fast-paced, dynamic, and ambitious results-oriented environment.
- Strong data-driven analytical, project management skills and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in CRM software and digital analytics tools.
- Fundamental commitment to self-development and the development of others.
BENEFITS:
Primarily working out of the Boda Group’s Nottingham office three days a week, you will benefit from a collaborative working environment as well as enjoying the flexibility of hybrid remote working.
The Boda office is a magnificently restored Victorian building, located in the centre of the city’s historic Lace Market. Spread over three floors, you will work alongside colleagues from all our agencies.
- Competitive salary + new business bonus scheme.
- 25 days holiday plus all public holidays, your birthday off and time off over Christmas during office closures with leave also available for charity and personal development commitments.

Apply NowBusiness Development Manager
We’re looking for someone who can smash down the door to businesses that don’t yet know how great we could be for them — then deliver our finely crafted messages, and build meaningful business relationships with them.
At Tank, we build long-term relationships with B2B and B2C brands of all sizes. From ambitious scale-ups to global software companies, we help them make their mark through digital PR, SEO, content and paid media campaigns that work. Our work speaks for itself — but it takes the right person to open the door and pitch our strategic vision to someone new.
That’s where you come in.
As Business Development Manager, you’ll lead early conversations with prospective clients — whether through referrals, pitch requests, events or LinkedIn. You’ll guide these discussions with empathy, clarity and confidence, making sure every interaction reflects our values.
This isn’t about selling. It’s about creating alignment — understanding a client’s ambitions and guiding them towards the right solution. You’ll be a natural relationship-builder, with a marketing-savvy mindset and the kind of energy that makes people want to say yes.
You’ll need experience in a similar revenue-focused role, and a background in the marketing industry — agency or in-house — to work confidently alongside channel experts and help shape high-quality responses to briefs.
You’ll work closely with the group’s commercial director, but have the autonomy to make the role your own. As a senior presence in the team, you’ll help shape our sales approach, attend events, and be encouraged to build and nurture your own network — both online and offline.
Responsibilities:
- Lead new business conversations from first contact to handover
- Respond to pitch and RFI requests with clarity and commercial awareness
- Work with our content and marketing teams to bring visibility to Tank’s expertise and people
- Represent Tank at events, networking opportunities and conduct your own outreach to brands we’d love to work with
- Help ensure our first impression matches the strength of our work.
About you:
- Warm, confident and naturally curious — someone people want to talk to
- Experience in a similar revenue-generating or partnership-focused role
- A background in the marketing industry — with a clear understanding of how strong proposals and pitch decks are developed
- A strong grasp of how digital marketing and PR work together, and what ‘good’ looks like
- Comfortable tailoring your approach depending on the person or business you’re speaking with
- Equally at home talking to the founder of a scaling SME or the CMO of a global software brand
- You understand how agencies work and how to guide a commercial conversation, not just follow one
- You’re an active networker, offline and online, and can hold your own in a room, without dominating it.
What you'll get:
- Competitive salary, an uncapped sales performance bonus and access to Tank’s standard new business bonus scheme for anything you find and close on your own.
- A senior role within a thriving digital marketing and PR agency
- A collaborative, supportive and creative team culture
- 25 days’ holiday plus public holidays, your birthday off, and extra time off at Christmas
- Flexibility to work hybrid from our Nottingham Lace Market HQ
- A beautiful office, great surrounding amenities, regular team socials and opportunity to have a personal impact.
Our values
There are three key values Tank has when it comes to our team

Personal Development and progression
We look after our own. That’s why we like to promote from within the agency whenever we can. Several Tank team members have joined as account executives and progressed to be account directors or higher. Depending on their individual skills and passions, we help people create their own career path to suit.
Each person is allocated an annual training budget to develop their skills however they see fit. They also have a mentor to guide and support them, help them meet their training objectives and develop their career path.
We offer dedicated days off for people to pursue their own personal development, such as to attend events, seminars or workshops. Several of us have also completed Women in Leadership training courses, making sure that as many of the team have strong management skills and opportunities.
Some of the other features of our personal development programme are:
- Annual salary reviews.
- Regular training sessions, internal and external, to keep skills sharp and share knowledge.
- A buddy to help new starters settle in from day one, plus a training plan specific to each person, with ongoing support whenever it’s needed.
- A dedicated team development director, to help each person with their career progression and training.
Wellbeing
We’re all here to do great work for our clients, achieve our goals and progress our careers, but we’re also here for a sense of belonging. The social aspects of working at Tank are unique and have grown organically, whilst our wellbeing policies have developed from ideas within the team.
- Work from home options, with the freedom to plan your own week.
- A ban on internal lunchtime meetings and out-of-hours internal emails.
- Extra holidays for Christmas and birthdays.
- Quarterly team socials.
- Regular random treats, including yoga, houseplants, vouchers and pizza.
- A paid day off to volunteer for the Tank charity or any other close to your heart.
- Regular unplanned lunches and gatherings.
- Dogs are welcome, because no office should be without one.
- A trained Mental Health First Aider.
- Ethics and diversity meetings.
- Menopause policy.
Relationships
Tank’s roster of accounts is one of the most diverse of any agency. We’ve deliberately never tried to specialise in one particular industry or sector, and we’re better for it.
Mixing up what we work on from day to day keeps us fresh. From tech companies to restaurants, architects to satellites, it makes each task different.
It also means that team members all work with different people. Between PR, PPC, SEO, digital PR and social media, we all learn and appreciate each other’s craft.
What’s more, our sister creative agency, Warbox, resides in the same building. Although it might be a separate company, the amount of time our teams spend with each other, and the work we do together for shared clients, means you’d be hard pushed to tell.
Why i joined
“I met a number of Tank employees and clients at social events and I have never heard such praise for a workplace! I can confirm it’s all true, everyone works hard but there is always an air of calm professionalism mixed with fun. It’s a rare combination."

Why i joined
“They recognised my potential and offered me the structure and incentives to develop my skills in a relaxed and friendly environment.”

Why I'm here to stay
“Tank pays me to do one of the things I love to do most: writing. Support from colleagues is second-to-none and there are plenty of opportunities to grow.”

Why I'm here to stay
“I stay because we’ve built something amazing. I genuinely believe the culture, the team and the ethos we’ve developed couldn’t be replicated.”
