Everyone at Tank is given a day away from the office to spend it volunteering for a community project or cause close to their heart.

This month, a team of women from Tank and our sister agency, Warbox, spent two days with women’s aid charity, Juno, sharing our PR and social media skills to support the charity’s latest awareness campaign.

Juno is launching its Turning Nottingham Orange campaign on 25 November, which also marks the start of 16 Days Activism, an international movement declared by the UN to raise awareness of gender-based violence globally.

This year, Juno is urging as many people and businesses in Nottingham and south Nottinghamshire as possible to join their campaign, and our volunteers offered their help to spread the word.

The team worked with Juno’s fundraising and communications manager Tasarla Larner for two days of empowering skill-swapping and advice sharing that saw them create several social media posts for the campaign, write a blog for the charity’s website, and contact hundreds of local businesses to share news of the campaign and encourage them to sign up.

The team’s biggest achievement was confirming that Nottingham City Council will be lighting up the council house in Market Square orange for the night on 25 November.

It joins The Island Quarter and Experian who had already pledged to show their support for Turning Nottingham Orange by lighting up their buildings orange for the event.

Driving change

Juno does incredible work in Nottingham and south Nottinghamshire to care for vulnerable women, teenagers and young children.

Statistics show that one in four women in England and Wales will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime and they’ll experience an average of 35 incidents before reaching out for help.

Within the last year, Juno has had 16,000 calls to its helpline across and helplines nationally receive an average 1,334 calls a month for domestic abuse incidents.

Juno is committed to keeping women, children and teens safe and helping them recover from the harm of domestic abuse to eventually live a healthy and thriving life.

Our volunteers were keen to show their support for such a rewarding cause and help make a difference to the charity’s work.

For a charity that doesn’t have the biggest bank of resources or lots of time and money to throw at marketing campaigns, it was important for us to be able to share the skills and experience we have in this area to ensure more people hear about the campaign this year.

And Tank and Warbox will be getting involved on 25 November too with our own orange-themed fuddle and encouraging our colleagues to don their best orange attire to raise awareness of the Turning Nottingham Orange campaign.
