Digital marketing and PR agency, Tank, has appointed Martin Stone, a director and owner of the business, as its new managing director.

Martin joined Tank in 2010 alongside founder Trevor Palmer, having previously held a number of roles across national and regional broadcast media, including commercial and BBC radio and TV stations. 

Martin has a wealth of PR experience across the B2C and B2B space, having worked with international and national brands on award-winning campaigns, product launches and venue openings. 

As Martin takes over the day-to-day running of Tank, Trevor, who has led the business to its current prominent position, will take on the role of managing director of The Boda Group, which comprises Tank and creative agency Warbox. A marketing agency collective, The Boda Group is expanding via the acquisition of expert niche marketing service providers that fit within its service culture. The Group will announce its first major marketing acquisition this month. 

Commenting on his appointment, Martin said: 

“I’m really proud of what we’ve built at Tank, and it’s exciting to reflect on what’s been achieved over the past 15 years. I’d also like to say thank you to Trevor for the opportunity to lead Tank into an exciting new chapter. 

“I’m a firm believer in a business living and breathing its values, and this will remain a key focus for Tank moving forward, investing in our clients, people and communities to help them make their mark.” 

Trevor added: 

“Tank has grown in size every year since it began trading and Martin has been critical to that – he has been the perfect business partner and our strengths have always complemented each other.

“I have no doubt that he will continue to deliver excellent service provision and innovation to our clients, and help develop and care for our people and communities. His flexible, capable and open leadership style will well suit the coming storm of opportunity in AI, which may decimate ‘business as usual’ familiarity in the agency world over the next five years.”

Tank directors Max Bevis and Phil Kelsey will join Trevor in The Boda Group, taking the roles of operations director and commercial & strategy director respectively, from January 2025. 

Alongside his role at Tank, Martin has served as a trustee for the Notts LGBT+ Network and currently sits on the Nottingham Forest FC equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) committee.
